The United States Geological Survey—in its first-ever non-structural earthquake retrofit project—has selected Essrig Taylor Construction (ETC) to seismically fasten the high tech equipment and hundreds of other pieces in multiple buildings for its Earthquake Hazards Mitigation program at the organization’s flagship campus in Menlo Park, California.

The planners at the UCSD Hillcrest Medical center had to comply with the NPC-3 mandate for non-structural seismic performance. They also had to continue providing first-rate care for patients without interruption during the seismic retrofit. With ETC on their project, they were able to meet both requirements.

Neonatal Intensive Care Units are among the most challenging construction sites imaginable. Newborns, often in critical condition, are hypersensitive to loud noise, vibration, light and dust, not to mention susceptibility to airborne viruses. Rady relied on ETC's health care experience to help them meet their NPC-3 and NPC-4 requirements without disturbing their little patients.

San Ramon, a 123-bed advanced acute care hospital, turned to the health care construction experts at ETC to perform tenant improvements to its facilities including its Breast Center, and to complete a non-structural (NPC-3) retrofit throughout its facilities to withstand a major earthquake.
