Our specialized construction teams have years of experience renovating every space – from bathrooms, to multiple floor rebuilds and retrofits. We are known throughout California as a leading name in health care construction – with teams specializing in Management, Structural Reinforcing, HVAC, Plumbing, Drywall & Insulation and Roofing. ETC has particular expertise with minimizing interruptions to the daily operation of a health care facility, lab or hospital from many years of experience with site access, infection control, patient privacy and construction mitigation procedures and measures, along with an in-depth understanding of how departments operate. Below is a small sample of Tenant Improvement projects completed by the ETC Building & Design team:

Kitchell hired ETC Building & Design to build out an integrated project delivery trailer (IPD) providing a central location for all development operations – from architecture and planning, to inspections and construction management during the construction of the Jacobs Medical Tower. Work scope included demolition, site grading, concrete foundation and curbing, relocation of existing trailers and procurement of new trailers. Interior work included structural modifications, bathroom renovations, and runs for AV / conferencing equipment. Site totaled over 27,000sq ft.

The Rady Children’s Hospital – Bernandy Center is a skilled nursing and sub-acute facility for medically fragile children. ETC was hired as a design build firm to complete tenant improvements at the Bernandy Center. We produced drawings, budgeted the project and performed 14,000sq ft of tenant improvements. Work scope included new flooring throughout, replacement of ceilings, modifications to existing bathrooms, new and resurfaced case work, replacing of counter-tops, removal and replacing of equipment, and a new nurse call system.

The Scripps Mercy Hospital campus in Chula Vista provides outstanding healthcare services to San Diego residents. Celebrating 120 years as San Diego’s largest and longest established hospital, Scripps selected ETC Building & Design to perform tenant improvements to 84 patient rooms at this campus. This multiphase projects calls for the completion of 3 rooms every 6 days – minimizing interruptions at this busy facility. Work scope includes new flooring, replacement of ceilings, new and resurfaced case work, removal and replacement of equipment, paint, lighting and cleanup.

The University of California San Diego Health System selected the ETC Design & Build team for tenant improvements at their Blood Drawing facility at UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center. ETC performed expansive tenant improvements throughout the 6,000sq ft facility. Work scope included framing and insulation, electrical, HVAC, flooring, ceiling installation, new case work, installation of equipment, paint, lighting and other fixtures and site cleanup.

The Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas provides outstanding emergency and expert specialty care to residents throughout North County San Diego. Scripps came to ETC Building & Design to replace 44,000 sq ft of roofing at the one story wood structure. Under the jurisdiction of OSHPD, ETC’s team removed and replaced surface materials, abatement, repaired damage from termites, resealed, and resurfaced the roof. This project required removal and replacement of air handlers, and the installation of a temporary air handler. The project was completed two months ahead of schedule.

ETC Building and Design was selected by Scripps to install a new Air Handler Unita (AHU) for the MICU located at the Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. The project required a new structural concrete slab, new structural steel duct supports and new duct work to existing penetrations. The project also required use of an intricate crane lift and evacuation procedures during the operation.

Office space was converted into a State of the Art Breast Center, complete with the following technology/procedure areas: digital mammography, diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsies, DEXA bone density testing, diagnostic X-ray procedures.
Situated outside the main hospital in the South Building, The Breast Center offers a relaxing reception and waiting area, and treatment rooms offer privacy and comfort.
